The Township of St. Clair is currently seeking Summer Students to fill positions at the Fire Administration Office as follows:
Administrative Assistant – Canada Summer Jobs
Principal responsibilities for this position are perform general office administration duties including answering phones and email, creating files and filing. This position will also assist the Chief and Deputy Chiefs complete an equipment inventory which includes moving and carrying fire gear that can be heavy.
Maintenance/Public Education Student – Canada Summer Jobs
Principal responsibilities for this position are assisting at the fire stations doing grass cutting, equipment maintenance and testing and public fire safety education programs. The ideal candidate will be a post-secondary student in the fire service field with experience in general maintenance and lawn maintenance. Must be willing to work outdoors and have demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
Both these positions receive funding through Canada Summer Jobs. For candidates to be eligible they must meet the following requirements:
• be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
• have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.”
The ideal candidate will be a post-secondary student with experience in general maintenance, lawn maintenance. Must be willing to work outdoors and have demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
