The Township of St. Clair is currently seeking a Deputy Treasurer/Coordinator of Finance. Working under the direction of the Director of Finance/Treasurer, this position assists the Director in all phases of his duties related to the financial, accounting, financial information systems and staffing functions. Supervises, reviews, and works closely with the Treasury and other departmental staff. This position is the primary contact point for the internal department, financial and information system inquiries, and report generation requests.

This position offers a competitive salary based on a 35-hour work week along with a competitive benefits package complete with extended health and dental benefits, and enrollment in the OMERS (Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System) pension plan.

Education and Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have a university degree in accounting or related discipline with a recognized accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA) and minimum of five years’ related accounting experience in a municipal environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Related experience to include working knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and fund accounting; ability to work independently and in a team environment; the ability to analyze and investigate problems and make recommendations for improvements; strong organizational skills to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines; demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in website and software maintenance, testing, planning and coordinating complex accounting information systems; demonstrated strong public relations and written and oral communication skills.
